Here is one of my families favorites, it is better if you have cooked up a ham and have some leftovers.

1 lb. lean ham slice, about 1/2 in. thick cubed
2 lb. potatoes peeled and sliced thinly
1 cup cauliflower florets
1 cup chopped or sliced onions
1 cup peas fresh or frozen

Put all the above in a large bowl.

Sauce:

1/3 cup flour
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp. parsley flakes
2 1/2 cups skim milk

Sift flour, pepper, cayenne and parsley together in a sauce pan. Whisk in part of milk until no lumps remain. Whisk in rest of the milk. Heat and stir on medium heat until it boils and thickens. Pour over contents in bowl. Stir and put ingredients in 3 qt. casserole. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for one hour.

I have changed the amount of cayenne to spice it up even more, also used 2% milk instead of skim, both these worked fine.

My husband likes this soup since it reminds him of living at home.
These are the instructions i got from his mom. There a little hard to follow, if your not used to cooking by taste.

6 chicken drum sticks or a small whole chicken
Cover with water so theres about 1/2 inch water above the chicken.
1-3 bay leafs
1 tsp pepper
1 tbsp salt

Bring the chicken to a boil then turn the heat down so it simmers. Skip any blood of the top. The longer you cook it the better the flavour.

Once its cooked for a few hours bring it close to a boil and add:

1 can tomato paste
homemade egg noodles
6 tbsp sour cream.
Add more salt and pepper until soup has enough spice for your taste.

Egg Noodles:

1 egg whisked in a bowl
1 handful flour
salt and pepper ruffly a tsp each

Mix all three together of its not really between a paste and runny add a bit of water. if its to runny add more flour.

Take a spoon and add the runny noodles to the soup(they will cook when added to the soup.) You dont need to add the noodles. There a little scary at first.

My favorite food is Cabbage Rolls. But i am way to lazy to make them.

LAZY BOY CABBAGE ROLLS

INGREDIENTS

1 lb hamburger
1 medium cabbage
1 medium to large onion
1 large can diced tomatoes
1 medium can crushed tomatoes
1 tbsp pepper
2 tbsp salt

DIRECTIONS

1.Fry chopped onion and hamburger together in frying pan. Drain fat when hamburger is done
2.Dice the cabbage and cook it with 1/4 cup water in a soup pot until it turns a bright green.
3.Add the cooked hamburger to the cabbage
4. Combine the rest of the items to the cabbage and hamburger bring to a boil.
5 Cook rice
6.Serve on a bed of rice.

I like this recipe the next day. To me it tastes better when everything sits for a bit. Its not to salty or peppery you may want to add some.My husband adds sour cream to his plate.
